Welcome Summer!

We've planned some wonderful activities for the upcoming months. We've done our best to keep the oldies but goodies -- such as our book club discussions, Moms' Mornings Outs, Moms' Lunches Out and Moms' Nights Out-- while
jazzing it up with some new events.

You're sure to find something of interest in our diverse monthly program meetings. Look at all the great topics we've planned for the coming year:

Wednesday, July 9th, 7:30 p.m.: Ice Cream Social & Education Discussion
We've planned another discussion on education, since we had so much interest in this topic at our May meeting. We'll have a fun, informal conversation over ice cream about how school today differs from our own school years, what to
consider when making school choices, No Child Left Behind and more. Come with questions and suggest resources that have helped you, such as books, websites or organizations.

Thursday, July 17, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Moms' Night Out: Free Concert
Come see the The Party Dolls at a local park.  With a repertoire from the 60's to the 80's and from Motown to Madonna, they're an entertaining tribute to girl groups and women in rock. Come and enjoy music under the stars!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 7:30 p.m.: Book Club
We'll meet at a local coffee spot to discuss Hunting and Gathering by Anna Gavalda, a fun summer read about a French artist, a chef and an aristocrat. If you can't go to Paris this summer, reading a book set there might be the next best thing.

Friday, July 25th, 10:30 a.m.: Playdate at the Park
Let's meet at a pleasant playground (with a huge sand box) for a fun morning at the park. Bring sand toys, drinks and lunch or a snack.

Tuesday, July 29th, 7:30 p.m.: Free Self-Defense Class
Don't miss this free 1 hour self-defense class! A female trainer will teach us ways to stay safe and key elements of self-defense: how to use your body and everyday items to protect yourself against assault. Developed for women, this
class will help boost your confidence in your ability to protect yourself and your family. To cool down, we're going to Handel's ice cream fterwards.

Thursday, July 31, 7:00 p.m.: Board Meeting
Members are welcome to help us plan speakers and events for the summer and
fall. We'd love to have your input.

Sunday, August 3rd, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.: Family Picnic
Please join us for a fun summer family picnic. We'll meet at the pavilion at a lovely, shady park. Bring a picnic and drinks for your family, and a dessert or snack to share. You might want to bring a ball, frisbee or other outdoor toys as
well.

Wednesday, August 6th, Noon: Moms' & Kids' Lunch Out
Farmers markets are one of the joys of summer. We'll meet at the tables in the front of the market, then each pick up something for lunch. It's fine to come late if you need to pick your kids up from camp first.

Monday, August 11th, 10:30 a.m.: Playdate at the Park
Come for playtime and a picnic at the park. Let's meet by the pavilion at the south end of the park -- bring sand toys, lunch or a snack.

Thursday, August 21st, 7:30 p.m.: Moms' Night Out: "A Patriotic Pint"
For a relaxing evening out, we're meeting at a pub in Wayne.  It has an informal atmosphere, an extensive food and drink menu, and a fun outdoor
seating area, including lawn swings!

Friday, August 29th, 10:30 a.m.: Playdate at the Park
It's time for another playdate at Friendship Park. Feel free to come on your own to chat if your kids are in camp.
